出乎大多数流行乐迷意料的是，甜蜜浪漫的爱情也是大多数摇滚乐的主题。事实上，作为娱乐音乐出现的大多数流行歌手和摇滚乐队的本质并无区别。只不过口味有甜有苦，有淡有辣罢了。何况，有时候狂暴的摇滚乐队安静下来，也需要轻松愉快地换换口味。几乎所有的重金属乐队也就因此写下了招牌曲一般的情歌小品，“感性的一面”，此之谓也。而所有那些金属党向流行帮抢饭碗的名曲中，Extreme(极端乐队)的《More Than Words》(《胜过言辞》)则最为清新别致。只用一把木吉他伴奏的《胜过言辞》在动情方面可能不及一些大歌，但它高贵的气质却随着真情流露，胜过了有着华丽织体的热闹声音。当然，这首歌最迷人的，还是天衣无缝的合声部分，那轻轻的、起伏的、隐现并滑翔而逝的伴唱。只有真正胸怀开阔，品位脱俗的人才能这样写情歌，也只有真正温柔可爱的人才值得被这样的歌声围绕。
