Nintendo of Europe has confirmed that Europe will receive an inferior version of the fourth Professor Layton on DS. There has been a lot of confusion over whether or not Professor Layton and the Spectre's Call would include the Brownie Brown-developed extra RPG mode, London Life. This was included as a special unlockable bonus in the Japanese edition, and was announced as a 100-hour RPG experience, with graphics reminiscent of Mother 3 on GBA (also co-developed by the ex-Square staff members of Nintendo-owned Brownie Brown).

任天堂欧洲分部已经证实，即将在欧洲发售的DS第四个《雷顿教授》是一部缩水劣化版。此举造成很多欧洲玩家的困惑和不满，因为在日版的这个游戏包含了一个额外的RPG模式--伦敦生活，讽刺的是真正生活在伦敦的玩家却玩不到这--伦敦生活。据悉伦敦生活将提供100小时长的RPG模式，图形效果则采用类似GBA游戏《地球冒险3》的怀旧画面。

对此任天堂给出的答复是：为了保证欧版不会延期，所以采用了这一措施。
